ConnectEd: The California Center for College and Career

ConnectEd: The California Center for College and Career, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, and Pillar—a partnership of the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce—invite you to a daylong symposium on Partnering to Build an Integrated Biomedical and Health Science Curriculum. This workshop is designed for collaborative teams of teachers—and their industry and postsecondary partners—working in small learning communities, academies, and high schools or high school programs that are organized around a health science theme.

At the symposium, participants will explore a set of 10 standards–based, multidisciplinary curriculum units designed for teams of teachers to use in both health science and academic courses (Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Science). In addition, attendees will work in multidisciplinary teams to tackle one of the units, much as students will do when they participate in the integrated classroom lessons that make up the unit.

Registration is free. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and materials will be provided at no cost.

Teachers and teaching teams who would like to attend should submit a
Registration and Planning Form, and agree to complete an action plan at the workshop. This form is for individual teachers, or teams of teachers attending the symposium as a group.

Industry Partners, Postsecondary Partners, and others who would like to attend the Symposium should submit the Registration Form for Industry Partners, Postsecondary Partners, and Other Participants.

Register soon! The deadline for registrations is Monday, October 20, 2008.
